Soil Amendments

When you need extra soil, mulch, and/or compost for most smaller landscape jobs, it is generally easier to purchase bagged goods available at virtually all nurseries and garden centers. Some landscape jobs require such a large quantity of these products that it begins to make sense to buy in bulk. Buying in bulk does require either paid delivery of the product or access to some sort of truck so that you can do the pick-up and delivery. Prices vary a lot, so be sure to enquire about the terms.

While we do not recommend any one particular source, the list below should permit you to find what you need.

The phone number listed for Quality Mulch & Topsoil is no longer in service. I did a search online to see if a different number may be listed, but the two numbers listed are also out of service.

I also like the "Serrano Creek Material". I use it as an amendment in my raised beds, a top dressing, and bedding material for my vermicomposting beds. His composting process is "1st Class". Highly recommend!

One of my favorite places to purchase compost is at Serrano Creek Ranch & Equestrian Center in Lake Forest. It is the only equestrian center in Orange County certified as a composting facility. Their 'horse' compost is wonderful and affordable. My plants and trees have noticeably improved with it. See at: http://www.serranocreeksoils.com/contact_us
